This page is a work in progress. I must apologize for the small number of photos I have been able to put up on it so far. I took quite a lot of photos on both of my trips to Vietnam, but the only slide scanner to which I have access is pretty slow, so I have not yet managed to process very many of my photos.
For people who have slow internet connections, the download time for a large set of photos can be unreasonable. After the links to sets of photos, therefore, I will in some cases give individual links to the individual photos in the set.

The peasants along Highway 1 used the road as a threshing device. After they cut the rice stalks, they would pile them in the middle of the road, and the tires of passing vehicles would pound the rice grains off the stalks. Then they swept the grains to the edge of the road, where stalks could be raked out of the grain.
