News Policies in Vietnam. Hearings of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, August 17 and 31, 1966. 161 pp. The primary witnesses were Leonard Marks, Director, USIA, and Arthur Sylvester, Asst. Sec. Def. for Public Affairs. The actual transcript ends on p. 113; it is followed by a very diverse set of documentary appendices. Note the transcript of Congressman Donald Rumsfeld, on Voice of America, July 6, 1966, strongly endorsing freedom of information laws and saying it is desirable that the press have the ability to sue to force government officials to release information (pp. 121-123).
