No. 93-10. 33 pp. Hearings of the House Armed Services Committee, May 8, 1973, with Dennis J. Doolin, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, for Southeast Asia and Pacific Affairs, and J. Fred Buzhardt, General Counsel, Department of Defense. The resolution, submitted by Rep. Robert L. Leggett (D-CA), called for the Defense Department to answer a series of detailed questions on sortie rates, bomb and shell tonnages, numbers of US military personnel, costs, casualties, etc. The witnesses were providing the answers.

House Judiciary Committee, 1974. 599 pp. Information collected in connection with hearings to consider whether Richard Nixon should be impeached. pp. 90-103 give the most detailed DOD statistics on the US air war in Indochina--sorties and tonnages--that I have ever seen.

Supplemental Assistance to Cambodia. Hearings before the Subcommittee on Foreign Assistance and Economic Policy, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, February 24, March 6, 1975. iv, 205 pp. Includes (pp. 79-136) testimony of doves such as George Kahin, Tom Hayden, and D. Gareth Porter opposing further U.S. support of Lon Nol's government. Some of this testimony appears naive in retrospect, but it was far from an endorsement of the Khmer Rouge as reliably nice people. Hayden, for example, did not promise that there would be no killing when the Khmer Rouge took over, or even no bloodbath; what he said was that if the Lon Nol government could be persuaded to give up its efforts to hold onto power, "there will be less possibility of a bloodbath" (p. 116).

Report from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, March 21, 1975. 26 pp. Recommends passage of S. 663, which provides some additional military aid to Cambodia for FY 1975, beyond that previously appropriated, but says all military aid will be cut off June 30. Discusses danger of a Khmer Rouge bloodbath. The text has been placed on-line in the Virtual Vietnam Archive of the Vietnam Project at Texas Tech University.
