These photos were taken from the 22d floor of the Regal International Hotel, 516 Hengshan Road, in what used to be the French Concession. I started facing south, and rotated clockwise to the northeast.
Zooming in on the distant building on the right in the previous photo, we see the only construction crane clearly visible in any of these photos. By naked eye while taking these, I was able to see one other, also quite distant; I believe it is dimly visible just to the left of center in the previous photo. The rate of contruction near the middle of Shanghai had clearly slowed a lot since 2002. Construction was still brisk on the edges of the city.
